I might be looking in the wrong place for this as this isn't a Sims games problem itself, but it's relevant so I figure I'll try my luck with you guys.

I've recently had my (fairly old) computer's HD completely restored, and I've just gotten around to reinstalling the Sims on it. I've downloaded Clean Installer as I had done before, but now I keep ( Read more... )

Have you gotten WinXP up-to-date with all 3 service packs?

I don't know if that would fix your problem, but it might help.

Annoyingly, it doesn't seem to have made a difference, but thanks for reminding me to get all of them up to date anyway!

Have you made sure that Clean Installer is your default program to open that file? I get that error when I try and open it with something else. To set Clean Installer as your default .sims2pack open-er, right click on a .sims2pack >> down to open with... >> choose program >> find Clean Installer. :)

You know, I just started having the same problem as the OP about three days ago. It's not letting me select Clean Installer at all. I go through the Browse menu and when I find Clean Installer and select it, it just closes that menu with the default Sims2Pack installer selected. Every. Single. Time.

To the OP: I found that dragging the icon of the Sims2Pack to be installed onto the Clean Installer icon opens it up. But if there's more than one file I have to keep hitting "install" until it gets all of them.

Yeah, I had the same problem - when I set the default to Clean Installer, it'd either not load, pop up a message or just not do anything.

However, click'n'drag works perfectly, thank you! Annoying little problem finally solved. c:
