New member. Nice to meet you, everyone! :)

Unlike most fairy tales, this one starts with a wedding.

One summer day, Brandi Newbie and Skip Broke got married in the outskirts of Pleasantview. Brandi was a young waitress who dreamed of a huge, happy family. Skip was an aspiring journalist who considered the quest for knowledge an important part of his life. He wanted to become a Media Tycoon and earn enough money to send his future children to college.

During her youth, Brandi was a very popular girl, with countless suitors who wanted to marry her. Most people of Pleasantview were shocked when she announced her marriage with Skip, a stranger with no money or class who had arrived to town during his teenage years. But they only needed to glance at the happy couple to understand the reasons why Brandi had chosen Skip.

Ten years later, the couple was still living in the outskirts of Pleasantview, in a tiny trailer they had built with their savings.

They already had a boy, Dustin...

… who was known as a little trouble-maker since his tender years.

And they were expecting the arrival of their second baby in just a couple of weeks.

Despite money being tight, the Brokes were very happy. But Skip knew that they couldn't stay like that forever. The trailer was so small that there wasn't even space to place the baby's crib. He didn't want his future son or daughter to sleep in the hall! Besides, Dustin was growing up fast and he wanted to give him the best education available. He wanted him to go to a private school and to College and that was very expensive. His job paid too little and Brandi was on maternity leave . What he needed was something that'd place him in the journalism map, that'd make him famous and rich. An incredible, prize-winning magazine article and he already had the perfect idea for one.

Skip read once that some Sims had been brought back from Death during their lives. They had died unexpectedly and their loved ones had pleaded the Grim Reaper for their salvation. And it was the love between those Sims what had beaten the Reaper and they were brought back to life. Skip was sure that his family’s love was strong enough to bring him back from Death. And his experience beyond the grave would be the perfect topic for the article that would place him among the greatest journalists in Pleasantview. Brandi wouldn’t accept his plan, though, and that’s why he didn’t tell her anything. He trusted her enough to save him when the moment arrived.

Skip built a small pool in the back-yard and one night he entered it and threw the ladder away.

The hours went by, and soon he started feeling tired and hungry. His legs wouldn't be able to keep him afloat for much longer...

It happened too quickly. His energy left him and he plummeted to the bottom of the pool before he could scream for help.

Skip made a fatal mistake in not informing Brandi for she, exhausted from her advanced pregnancy, was deeply asleep in their bed by the time the Grim Reaper arrived. And it was way past Dustin’s bedtime.

Grim, tired of waiting for Skip's loved ones, claimed his soul just a few moments later.

Brandi woke up the following morning and the first thing she noticed was that Skip wasn't sleeping by her side. Where was he? He usually stayed up late reading, but he always went to bed a little bit past Midnight. She looked for him around the house... and her screams were heard all around Pleasantview when she finally found what was left of her husband in the backyard.

Skip Broke was buried that afternoon in his backyard.

The pain of her sudden and unbelievable loss was too much for Brandi to handle and she went into labor right then and there.

I was born on the first day of autumn, right next to my father's grave.

My name is Beau Broke, and this is my story.
