I feel like this, too. My mom was pretty old when she gave birth to me (37, I think), so I've always wanted to have kids relatively young (in my late 20s/early 30s, at least) so I would better be able to relate to them, and them to me. I'm on the Pill, so the chances of conceiving are already tiny. But there have still been a good handful of months since we moved to Canada when I've wept openly upon my period arriving, because it meant that the miniscule chance of being pregnant was gone.
Considering we've got $30,000 of debt weighing down on us, being baby-less is a good thing. But my biological clock just kills me sometimes. It's our curse as women. God biologically engineered us to crave the raising of a family. Which I think proves that God is a man. LOL
I've wept openly too when my period would arrive. In May when I took the first test and it was negative (actually, I believe it was on the day that I first met you), I threw the test across the room and started crying.
I think you can have both, but I think it takes financial stability. However.. having been down the "career road" and not enjoyed it particularly much, I'm actually looking forward to a few years of penny pinching, mortgage paying, and growing my own vegetables. I have nothing against working mothers at all (after all, I'll likely be one), but I think for at least the first five years a mother should aim to stay home, if she can possibly afford it. That's just my two cents, anyway.
If my sister can take her toddlers on river trips with her, camping, and living her active life almost as she did (with some adjustments), you can live a life and have fun with kids. I think people who say that either don't have kids, or didn't honestly try their ass off to have a good time (and nothing against that, it's HARD, but doable
( ... )
Seriously! Dude, I was in a digital scrapbooking chat once, and when I listed my hobbies, the older women were like "*snicker* When you have kids, you'll never get to do that stuff again!" O_o
