The good ol' days...

You know, I actually miss the early 90's. I remember teasing my bangs, putting my hair in a side ponytail with brightly coloured scrunchies or floofy barettes made with multicoloured shoelaces, wearing freaky flower or paint splatter print. I remember that certain crafts were still in style (it seems like cross stitch, miniatures, and plastic ( Read more... )

I was born in 1990, so my childhood happened in the 90's. Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls mania. Remember those pieces of gum with stickers of the Spice Girls in them? I almost had them all. XD also all the weird clothes with flashy colors and shit, it was just so fun. I was pretty young so I don't remember much, but sometimes I hear songs on the radio (like the one playing right now!) that are from the 90's and I actually *remember* the songs and the lyrics even though I was only 6-7 years old, and it feels so weird.

I actually do miss the 90's too. Growing up, my childhood was KISS music, Marvel Comics, FOX Kids, Pokemon (I witnessed firsthand the obsession that started to grow, and this was right before I entered Junior High), Mario, Barbie and Lisa Frank. Hell, I *still* love Lisa Frank to this day and I occasionally buy notebooks or something practical that has a Lisa Frank character on it. XD I, too, was in no hurry to grow up (and I'm still not, lol).

lulz, most of these kids don't know what they're missing. e_e; I blame the media that kept shoving the negatives and something that they don't need (like sex). ... Then again, I was already exposed to cussing (thank you, Mom and Dad), the nudes (thank you, Dad's Playboys) and the horror genre I grew to love (thank you, 'Tales from the Crypt'). XD

Still, kids! e___e; Never EVER rush your childhood.

Pokemon WHUT! I remember back when that first started getting big. I was in 6th grade and we would all bust out the collections at recess and trade. It was such a special treat to go to the card store and get one of those little packs. I loved the smell of the place and the anticipating of opening the plastic and looking through the cards to see if there was anything with a "rare" star on it. ^_^ I still have a lot of my cards from those days.

My sister and I would watch the TV show, too. There was a "Poke-rap" at the end and these two guys would rap out all the names of the Pokemon. Sadie and I memorized it and would sing along. I started to lose interest in Pokemon when they started coming out with all those new ones -- they weren't real to me unless they were in the Poke-rap! XD

Unfortunately, the early 90's were pretty traumatic for me. So I don't remember a lot. :/

I do remember being super excited to get a NES and a shirt that was red on the right side, purple on the left side and black with small white polka dots on the collar and wrists while the whole lower half of it and the sleeves were black and sheer so it was kind of see though for Christmas when I was in seventh grade.

I also remember Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, Ren & Stimpy, Beavis and Butthead, Aeon Flux, Liquid Television, Rocko's Modern Life, Beetlejuice, MTV Oddities: The Head and Daria all being INCREDIBLY AWESOME. (I'm a cartoon freak...)

I loved Aaahh!!! Real Monsters!! I was just trying to explain it to my boyfriend recently. He never watched it as a kid. =( Animaniacs were also the bomb.

And I miss watching Looney Tunes on Saturday mornings.
