I worked in a hospital for a year. I can't begin to tell you how common this sort of thing is. My sister is a nurse who has worked in hospitals for over 20 years, and still I say: we need to do something else, something other than hospitals.

it was only on for a couple of hours and there is no apparent damage. we're just all so thankful that she noticed it right away, and not (say) in the morning after it'd been running all night long.
it's hard even to be mad about it, given that lactated ringers are so very common and mitochondrial disease is so very uncommon.
