Interesting take on the situation, the metaphor of marriage counseling not withstanding.

That's a good, sensible column. Something I'm not used to seeing in the SLC newspapers, which I do haunt from time to time because so much of my family is still devoutly Mormon/lives out west now!

Sensible, yes. The columnist certainly makes valid points, in that Obama's administration is very different from Bush's, and how the U.S. (and others) react to foreign policy issues is directly affected by that. And while I am certainly all for peace in that particular area, I'd rather like to see Obama try something which hasn't already been done. Israel's previously pulled out of the "occupied" areas to no avail. It's a delicate process, that's for certain!

(I admit I am looking forward to the Rabbi's sermons come Rosh Hashana, as enough has happened in the last six months alone.)
