Oh my gosh! This was absolutely gorgeous! I loved the little allusions to the song, and John was brilliant, and and and and

Sherlock bugging his grave. <--gold. I think that's in my headcanon now. Oh man. I seized up and teared up a little during the epilogue.

I don't even have words to describe how brilliant this is. And John's photo of them. Wahhhh my poor heart. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ♥ ♥ ♥

...it may be bedtime now. I need to stop spazzing. But honestly, I'm so excited that you liked this idea, and your execution of it surpassed all expectations. Thank you so much! :)

YOU LIKE IT YAY :D I was worried I might have totally misinterpreted the prompt XD I'm no good at songfics or letters but dialogue seemed appropriate. Yessss, I think it's something he would do. And I get angsty at the thought that everything John wanted Sherlock to know, he can still tell him without knowing.

The photo was a last-minute insertion so I'm glad it worked! I might try to make a manip of it. :D

You're welcome! Happy Sherlockmas :D Thank you for reading it, and thanks for providing me with such a lovely prompt. I love that song now x)

I love what you write.
I love the colour play on the seasons.
And this stopped me in my tracks:
"John sang for him that night".
Thank you. Please keep writing!

Thank you! x) That's such a lovely compliment :D
Oh good! I didn't want that to look too cheesy. Originally I had angel wings separating the seasons, but they just looked all wrong D:
Oh, fantastic! I may write that scene one day. Unfortunately John won't tell me how it goes or what he sang ;__; Although, if you do want to hear him sing something rather cute, try this: http://youtube.ng/watch?v=4kGfpT6Ce0A

As I was reading, I believe I heard snatches of Peter Gabriel's The Book of Love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmnDXRJ7btE).
But think how good Martin's voice would sound, singing The Proclaimer's I'm Gonna Be (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZ4Ib-7fJqY)!

That song is UTTERLY BRILLIANT. I love the cheekiness - "Some of it's just transcendental; some of it's just really dumb." That fits them so well :P And yes! But then again he would sound good singing anything ;3

Aww, thank you! :) :) Well, I have a fic called 'A Fire Entirely His Own' which is kind of in this verse, but set during Reichenbach (apart from the bit at the end which fastforwards to after this fic.) It's NC-17 but the smut is angsty smut, heh. I don't know if you've read that? :P

I read "A Fire Entirely His Own" before this and thought it was breathtakingly beautiful. This one is equally as gorgeous, from John's POV. Thank you for sharing!

Oh, that's so good to hear! I find John's POV is much harder to write, so I was a bit bothered as to whether it would come out right. I'm glad you liked! :D

Spot on with John's POV.

And that's interesting you should say that, since it's usually Sherlock's voice people struggle with. But you capture it very well.

After the first four scenes, the epilogue is especially lovely. I like the contrast between John moving on, and Sherlock trying to cope.

Aww, thank you :) Yeah, I do think Sherlock needs John more than John needs Sherlock, not because John cares less but because John has healthier coping mechanisms. I don't know that he could ever really move on, but he could make his peace with it, in a way. I'm glad you liked it :D
