USA Health Care Reform: Rant

Mar 22, 2010 19:09

I am disgusted with the amount of people in America who are screaming "Treason" and "Death Penalty For Obama And The Supporters Of Health Care Reform" and "USA Will Be Bankrupt In A Few Years" and "Blood Will Flow In The Streets"! Ignorance and hysteria are pathetic ( Read more... )

Yes I was going to post a rant last night myself, I was rather angry. The 'community folk' were screaming kill the bill and cowards ! and its like..... ummm... what?

Those people have no idea in the world what it is like to not have the security of health care. They have no idea what the stress or financial burden it can be. The most ignorant fucked up and * uneducated* people of the world are the most harsh and judgmental people you will ever meet because they have no idea what the real world is like. Fuck Harvard, fuck Yale, that does not give you the real world education you need to make a decision like this whatsoever. I cannot stand sheltered little children who get so uptight about how the world should be and what people should do when they have no idea what the situation they are voting for/ against is actually right.

Yea, and the thing I keep hearing again and again is "OMG!!! This will cost ME money! I don't want to pay for anyone elses' healthcare!" Yea, you're a selfish jerk. Why don't you try to pass a bill that allows you to pay no taxes whatsoever? WTF.

And, you also have to factor in that having the rest of the people in your country healthy is better for you personally in any case.

Even in the most selfish way of examining these types of issues, often, the selfish approach is one where you pay more taxes for something like this. What ends up happening is that some of the people in your cities can now work, or work more, thus paying more taxes themselves. And, since they have more money, fewer will take to various petty thefts, fewer substance abuse problems etc.. which again saves your society money.

You personally are better off if your neighbours are health and have money. A real economist would have to give an actual report on the total costs and benefits, but, certainly many of the costs get offset by having a healthier population around you.

And my inlaws down in the US keep saying "You guys are going to move down here soon, right?"

Hahahahahaha... no. Individual Americans I've met have all been wonderful, with the exception of a few border guards, but this health care outrage is just one more illustration of the fact that Americans as a group have serious issues, to put it lightly.
