no..it was taken with matthew's iphone (which isn't bad considering it's a PHONE photo). i'm getting a friend to photograph my work in the next couple months, so soon you won't have to look at crappy cropped blurtastic shots.
thanks lady! :) yeah, i tossed on my billie holiday EP, poured a little chartreuse and danced around the easel until i was tired..lol. very fun and interactive - how most art should be made i think.
it's great for smearing/blending, esp. with chalk pastels but because it's such a thin medium, if you work too much in one area, the paper gets pulpy and worn out quickly. that's why it's a preferred surface for quick life studies.. a heavy medium like conte crayon will wear it away fast, but if you're using a lighter chalk pastel (more on the sidewalk chalk tip), you can keep working until the chickens roost :)
Ya know, you're pretty much the only artist that I know who is actually talented. I swear, so many people just paint muck and call it 'modern'. You, on the other hand, are actually talented.
wow, thanks el! there's a lot of muck out there, but i know people who think that muck is genius; hence the beauty of art in all it's subjective glory ;) i hope when i submit my portfolio (when it's done) to this school i'm applying to, that they feel the same way you do. it's the *only* school that has an art program in my price range in that area, so cross your fingers for me.
