Recap: Life goes on in a small village and missions are given.
There was a time when she’d been little and barely able to comprehend the life she was bound to choose, when everything outside of her little fantasy world didn’t matter. War, death, money; none of that mattered to a little blonde-headed girl with dirt on her knees and mud on her hands. Everything was so simple then, so tidy. Staring over the growing stack of contracts on the pale maple desk made her long for the summer days of her youth where her biggest worry was getting to supper before her grandfather sent out a hapless shinobi to drag her out of the forest and to the table by seven.
Unfortunately her whimsy meant nothing at present and would do no one any good. Right now she had to focus on keeping her little village from falling apart at the seems. Money wasn’t too hard to come by but the contracts were getting more dangerous as more and more missing nin flocked to Hidden Sound, drawn in by Orochimaru’s silver tongued lies; or they were increasingly tedious odd jobs that she didn’t feel comfortable giving to anyone but the genins. That left quite a few shinobi without work or on jobs they were not ready or suited for. That’s what lead her to her preset situation.
Before her lay five contracts, three commissioned by the same man, and all of which were among the most suspicious in the stacks. Each required someone with skills equaling or above Chuunin. She didn’t like the looks of the mission specifics but the money had been paid, half now and the other half on completion, by the requestors so she couldn’t very well turn them away. Konoha might not be suffering form financial strain but the coffers weren’t exactly bulging with excess wealth either.
After giving each a closer examination, Tsunade sent her assistants to track down three of her top Jounin that were currently without mission or obligations.
