Well, according to all the yahoos on TLS, George Washington is sending out emails today of the Early Decision candidates and then doing the mailing tomorrow.

Insert Lia panicking here.

Really -- good thinky thoughts in my direction today. I'm not expecting good news because while my GPA is above their median, my LSATs are decidedly not and I"m ( Read more... )

Oooooh, best wishes. I just know you'll get in! Don't forget that those medians are only averages (based on year to year acceptances.) The real numbers depend more on how many people apply and who they are. That may not make you feel better, but, believe it or not, it IS a good thing.

I really need a good "law" icon.

In any case, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! I know you'll get it. The LSATs are only a starting point.

Here's something that may or may not make you feel better:
In high school, I had a 3.2 GPA. Pretty decent, but not anything close to Ivy-league material. My SAT was a 1430 - Harvard's median, exactly. I figured what the hell and applied to it as my long shot. I was one of two kids from my HS who got in (and I was competing against 13 valedictorians, one 1600, and at least 50 other of my classmates). So much of it is about the softs - if you'd just been looking at my numbers, there's no way I would have gotten in. I didn't end up going (obviously) because of financial reasons, but I'm still very proud of my acceptance letter.

So. I'll be thinking VERY good thoughts for you today!

Holy crap, I don't even know you, but I'm really impressed.

Were you involved with a lot of activities in high school?

Oh yeah, a crapton. :D I lived in England my 9th and 10th grade years, doing four varsity sports (cross-country, cheerleading, crew, and softball), theatre, MUN, and a BUNCH of church activities. In Texas (where I was for 11th and 12 grades), I cut my sports down to softball. I did theatre, choir (competitive), MUN, was president of the chess club, president of the philosophy club, active on newspaper (photographer), took a shitton of AP courses, took AP tests for classes I'd never taken (buwahah), tutored French, and generally was too busy to cause trouble. :D I also did violin, piano, drums, and ballet. Oh, and I got my Girl Scout Gold Award. Plus church stuff... so yeah. XD I was really, really busy. I think that balanced it out, along with some good recs, stellar AP scores, and a well-written essay.

I'm so much lazier now. HS burnt me out hardcore. XD

Holy crap, again!

But Harvard didn't know most of your AP scores before they accepted you, so really? I'm assuming it was the TWENTY-PAGE LIST OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS. :)

Also, if you don't get in ED, aren't you thrown into the regular pool?

Anyway -- best of luck!
