Hehe. This makes me think of 21 Jump Street! If you wanted to see JD as a punk, prep, troublemaker, geek, adorable, tough--that undercover in highschools detective show is one to watch.

Well done on this. I like the epilogue too!

Interesting story. I like that you told it backwards. It's somehow a little less painful that way. The self-imposed curse of loneliness, particularly Jack's, is communicated really well here.

Awesome dialogue. This is my favorite bit:
"How have you been, then?"

"Polluted,"

One tiny little nitpick...
People were born, they grew, they procreated and eventually withered and died. Jack never did any of those.

He did the first two. The third was likely done several times, but that would be pure speculation. *g*

I love that he did not just wither and die in this story, as most people do, but was claimed (or reclaimed) by the sea.

Nice work. And please do write more!
