The thing I love most about this story is that it's not all sweetness and light - the cabin is exactly what might be expected after long neglect and the descriptions of the smell, the rats and the general grey look had me shuddering in disgust! So the final scene, with Jim, and Spock, the fire, the tree and the setting sun couldn't have been more of a contrast and it was wonderful and left me with a big smile on my face.

I really enjoyed your characterisations - Kirk deciding to go for it and finding Spock not exactly greeting him with open arms left me aching for him, and Spock looking out for Jim with the secret tracker, coming down to rescue him before he ended up with hypothermia was all perfect and wonderful and...

...I really liked your story, can you tell? :D I'm behind with my advent reading but took a break from writing my K/Mc story for space_wrapped to read this and I'm glad I did. :D Thank you for this wonderful contribution.

I love this story! I really love the imagery in this fic, the contrast of the cold and grey of the cabin versus the warm and gold light that Spock brings to his world.

“Spock, you’re in my bed. In bed with me. We’re in a bed together.” His mind was foggy with whiskey and heat and Spock.

“You were cold. It was logical for us to combine our body heat by lying together in close proximity.”

“I fuckin’ love logic,” Jim mumbled. Yes, Jim, logic is awesome in this case. You go on and show logic how much you love him.

little Jim held tightly to a model spaceship, zooming it in circles around his head, his tinny voice audible through the speakers, “pew pew pew!” Jim put a hand over his mouth to hide his grin. On the screen, Jim stood, barely reaching halfway up the tree, and he broke into a wide, gap-toothed grin. awwwwwwwwwwwwww omg you're killing me!!
