Awww, this was adorable! I haven't seen Where the Wild Things Are, but I adored this! It's got a sweet, naive and very fragile tone to it. I loved how the POV somehow managed to convey both Chris' childlike wonder at the events unfolding around him and this kinda fairy-talesque sense that what was happening was ordinary and extraordinary at the same time. Hmm... that problably made ZERO sense... haha.

Anyway, this was really beautiful and sweet!

What a wonderful journey this fic is. I haven't seen the movie, but I remember read the book many years ago. I would have been happy with a fluffy and schmoopy fic but the angst in the middle towards the end made it much more real (which is quite a feat considering the universe this fic is set in). Thank you for the wonderful fic!

the movie has some angst in it as well, which was kind of surprising to me, but was definitely something i wanted to incorporate into the story, so i'm glad you liked that part of it as well. thanks so much!

Oh, this is so beautiful. It feels like a fairytale almost. I like the mix of emotions and child-like handling of them. A couple of scenes made me chuckle (Noah's birthday! Zach running away at being confronted!) but overall, I found the atmosphere deliciously bittersweet. Thank you for sharing. ♥
