Writer's Block: Talking Ducks

I love Donald - but I had a hard time understanding him when I was a kid!

The Cartoon Network show that I found most disturbing was about a really mean little girl called Mandy and her sub-normal brother Billy who somehow forced the Grim Reaper (with Jamaican accent, courtesy of the Brad Pitt portrayal from that movie . . .) to be their playmate.  I ( Read more... )

Foster's Imaginary Friends is creepy, too - not the idea behind it, but the way they are drawn is like Dr. Suess on acid!

I liked some of the older ones, Courage the Cowardly Dog - he loved the Mama and was always brave in spite of himself in order to save her, and the old Farmer was a right cucker. I also liked the blond Elvis (Johnny Bravo?) - hilarious! The accent was perfect.

I never liked Courage, but I did like Sheep in the Big City. And Johnny Bravo ROCKS. We still watch him on On Demand sometimes.

I'm guilty of watching Billy and Mandy, I must admit. My brother too. My grandmother wandered in one day and said something to the effect of "No wonder kids have so many problems these days, all the cartoons are weird."

My grandmother said exactly the same thing. I guess the roadrunner torturing the coyote, or Jerry pwning Tom was considered NOT weird? I think the Simpsons' parody Itchy and Scratchy was direct reflection of that.

It was called Billy and Mandy. If you are not familiar with it, consider yourself lucky!

Adult Swim: you have to be in the mood.

I forgot about Powerpuff Girls! AAAAAAAAAH! I hated the way they were drawn. And their arch enemy Him, the devil in pantaloons, creeped me so far out that I hate to think about it. Ew. *shudders*

Hmm...I always thought Daffy Duck was a bit mental. I mean, he was always working so hard to get Buggs Bunny shot. :)

The animation on the NICK cartoon (mind blanks...the one with the cow named Otis and the mouse that speaks with a Spanish accent...Barnyard something) bothers me. The characters look sort of rubbery and alien.

Daffy could be annoying! But everybody knows somebody like that. There were a LOT of characters trying to kill wabbits; you wonder how Bugs always kept his cool facing that.

Oh, yes, Barnyard: Otis has an udder yet is a male character. What up? My kids didn't like that movie & never watch the cartoon series based on it.
