Oh, great tip! Didn't know that. I usually drink my herbal stuff in the evenings, but sometimes black is the way to go. Yummie!

Interesting!

Why doesn't it work as well with tea bags? I see no obvious reason for this, so I'm really curious about what I'm missing.

I'm not sure, but my guess it's because the tea in tea bags is basically just tea dust, so that most of the flavour will be released in the first 30 seconds as well. But yeah, the decaffeination process should work just as well. This calls for empirical evaluation!

Yes, I can see how that explanation would make sense. It does call for some empiricism. Another possibility I was considering was whether it might be because the tea leaves are confined to the bag, in which case it would also be a problem if you use one of those little balls. But of course, my interest is purely academic: I hardly notice the caffeine in tea (I do notice it in coffee).
