I suppose that's one way of looking on the bright side of things. However, I'm not sure how things like civil liberties can even BE debated in a political sense. The fact that this sort of shit can even be voted on by people is infuriating.
I used to say, "Twenty years from now, gay people will either be legally married, or legally exterminated!" That was about 5-6 years ago, and now it seems pretty clear which course we're on.
I believe the best thing each of us can do to advance gay rights for the whole is: strive to be the best people we can. That doesn't mean our basic human dignity should have to be merited, but it does make our enemies look all the more ridiculous.
