Who WOULDN'T Want This?

I would like to have an augmented reality, so that whenever I'm talking to someone, a little pop-up box-visible only to me-would appear over their head, displaying:

• Their full name
• What they like to be called
• How we know each other
• Their birthday
• The name(s) of their spouse/partner/kids/pets
• WHAT IS INAPPROPRIATE TO JOKE ABOUT

I was watching something on TV that suggested that with smartphones, this might eventually become a reality, in the same way that Googlemaps has business information layered over street scenes.

I would even settle for the power of Billy Ocean, so that when I meet someone, in the blink of an eye I'd know their number and their name. Yeah.

I'd like that, but only if it also included an option to turn on subtitles as necessary. Then I might actually be able to carry on a conversation in a noisy bar or restaurant!

Odds are, I'd be much, much harder to offend than a typical, hypothetical person. I'll even repeat a good gay joke if it's clever and not mean-spitited.

And if they DID cross that line, I'd know exactly how to send them off a sobbing wreck.
