treebreeze celebrated his birthday on September 13. He shares the birthday with cultural icon Scooby-Doo. I've been saving this temporary tattoo of the Witch Doctor from Episode 23 for a special occasion. So I put it on in his/their honor.
On Saturday, I found my 100th geocache. Sunday, I found seven more. On the way back to my car after finding one on the grounds of a local megachurch, I passed by this Argiope spider.
From there, I went to a particularly difficult cache near Bass Pro Shops. It was hard to get in, because there were very densely-packed trees, and lots of thorns, but it was an easy way out, because there was a dirt road that curved back around to the BPS parking lot. Following this road, I encountered an Eastern tiger swallowtail. I have just learned that this is in fact the state butterfly of Georgia.
Look what she's doing, though, in that first picture. She's trying to narrow herself, along my line of sight, so I can't see her. What an amazing tactic. And she wouldn't sit still. These two pictures are the only presentable shots I got out of a couple dozen.
