I always meant to tell you this, but I forgot somewhere along the way. Your icon reminds me of this discussion that my dad had with his boss who is an ex-west pointer. He said that at West Point, they calculated that if we converted all the money we spent on the Vietnam War into quarters and then rained the quarters down on North Vietnam, we could have covered the country in something like 3 feet of quarters (maybe it's 5 feet, I dunno). Then, probably the same number of Vietnamese would have died, but the Americans wouldn't have died (not to imply that Americans lives are worth more, but saving a life is saving a life). The war would have then been over since everyone would be too busy picking up quarters to fight anymore.
Sometimes I wonder why we don't just rain quarters on Iraq. Or, alternatively, Ayn Rand books.
