Just a year earlier, at the age of 44, Sarah carried her son Trig to term, even though she was told during a sonogram that he would be born with Down syndrome.

"Even though" - how I despise the way that's worded.

And OMG I am slow, but... what is the relationship between these two babies? They're not cousins. They're not siblings. Help me!

I know, what poor phrasing, I thought about writing to InTouch about it.

Trig is Tripp's uncle :)

:::thinks:::

THAT IS SO BIZARRE!

I have a friend who had a daughter when she was very young, and so they look more like sisters than mother-daughter. The daughter is now grown up, and they both ended up having babies the same year. For the life of me it always confuses me as to what these two kids are to each other. It's so rare. Can you imagine being pregnant the same time as your mother? LOL!

I have a nephew and niece who are years older than me. A great number of my cousins have kids my age. My sister had my niece shortly after I was born, much like Trig and Tripp. It's strange, but it's my life.

I'm not a kid person, but that's really cute. Trig always makes me smile.

I can't wait to see the sales figures for this issue. I'm even tempted to buy my very first issue of "In Touch Weekly"! Egads! Can you buy it in a brown paper wrapper so no one can see the title? :-) But how great to have that message showing on every magazine rack. Go Sarah and Bristol!

Palin's appearances on The O'Reilly Factor and Glenn Beck were huge ratings winners.

LOL IRL!!! You think I could ask someone to cut the picture of Skeletor Zoe's bikini ghastliness out of the cover before I have to look at it? :(

Eek! I didn't notice that on first glance. No clue who she is, but wow, she looks bad.

Those babies are adorable!

This is amazing stuff for two reasons. First of all, it looks like for once somebody not part of the conservative media isn't out for character assassination against Sarah Palin.

Second, I can only imagine how that cover will change the minds of many women out there contemplating abortion, including those who want to abort their Down's Syndrobe babies.

I had the same thoughts, both of them :)

That is awesome! Finally a non-conservative publication focusing on something GOOD in the Palin family. I look at those two babies and wonder how on earth anyone could support abortion. (And I don't even really like babies!) I just can't imagine a situation desperate enough that it's worth ending an innocent life.

I, too, cringed at the "even though" phrasing. I don't understand how people can't see that aborting a baby with Down's (or any other ailment) is no different than Hitler's goal to get rid of everyone not "perfect". The motives may be different, but the result is the same.

Congrats to your little one, and bravo to you for making the brave choice. I agree with you about selfishness being the motivation behind most abortions, even if the person doesn't realize it. But I know there are rare times when something awful, like a rape, has happened to the woman, and I can't really BLAME her for wanting to get rid of the child, but - well, as my husband says, "I'm for the death penalty in rape cases, but not for the baby."

This makes me think of a line in Law & Order: SVU (which tends to be more liberal anyway). Detective Olivia Benson is herself the product of a rape, but when asked by one of her coworkers what she would do if she was raped, she said, "I'd take the morning after pill - no hesitation." In saying that she basically just said that her life is not worth living. All those bad guys she put away - who cares? Kill the child conceived in rape. Oh, that made me SO MAD.
