They can’t talk, not here, without speaking right into each other’s ear, a distance they haven’t been from each other in a very, very long time. They can’t talk, not here, without breathing down each other’s necks, without lips grazing skin, fingertips on forearms. Too close, too hot, too personal. The lights keep flashing, the bass keeps pounding, and the ice in their glasses clinks metallic when they raise it to their lips. Finally, Ryan leans over, breath hitting Brendon’s neck.

Again with the awesome first paragraphs and visuals. Woo!

I had something to say about how I like the, I don't know, the way things are written when all three of them are together? Except I don't know how to actually make it make sense written down and not in my head? It's all complicated and symbolic or something. I don't know. I'll stop trying now.

i think i understand what you mean...it's kind of important in a few ways that everyone involved is comfortable with them all being together. that shane is okay with them talking, that ryan is okay with talking in front of both of them, that brendon's still acting like he's 'with' shane while in front of ryan. *nods* haha.

That was just about as wonderful as it gets!
The tension that you managed to put across, without any angsty outbursts was wonderfully done.
How Shane (that still creeps me out that you chose that name btw) is being all 'understanding' and somehow (acting?) so secure in his relationship with Brendon, that he can be there when they trawl over their past, is weird. I can see why he would want to be there but it's kind of creepy, and something that makes me wonder whether he realises that Brendon is still in love with Rachel/Ryan? Yeah, I'm confused about what I feel is happening, but it's 3am and maybe if I read this again in daylight hours I might understand what I think is going on... lol

The only Shane I knew was my dog!!! But he was gorgeous and I loved him dearly. It's the Brendon/Shane pairing that creeps me out.
