A Peek into my KitchenStudio: Teastaining Paintings

Some people here and there have inquired about my techniques... Yes there is a method to my madness, at least in terms of art making.

A technique I've used pretty often with watercolor/gouache paintings is teastaining. I like the color that tea gives, as well as the appearance of texture. I took some photos today as I worked:



So far, I've only used regular Lipton tea. I think other teas stain differently, but I've never tested that theory. I used more or less the contents of three teabags, and not very much water in order not to dilute the coloring from the tea.

Once it all dries, the tea will be discarded and the painting will begin!
