Being carried into the pediatricians office and getting weighed on the baby scale. I remember the paper on the scale was pale greenish and textured in tiny raised squares. I remember the white metal of the scale was cold. I remember being fascinated with the paper.
My next earliest memory was about age 3, waking up from a nap to an empty house and calling the Operator to ask where my mother was. (She was just outside chatting with a neighbor.)
My first memory is kind of fuzzy. It was at my parents apartment in Rockville or Bethesda. The wall had some sort of shelf system or built in cabinets and a space for the tv. That's pretty much all I remember. The next earliest memory I have is seeing this huge stuffed polar bear in the airport somewhere in Alaska. We were en-route to Misawa AFB in Japan.
