I know this is an old entry, just browsing. What did you think of Years of Rice and Salt, since you're a KSR fan? I read it last year and have loaned it out to about 3 ppl since then, they all hated it.

I had a really hard time getting going with it. I got hung up on the first 10 pages or so every time I tried to read it. Then finally I slogged through it, and really enjoyed the rest of the book.

It's somewhat harder to follow than some of his books, but I did think it was good.
