We were in the store this evening, picking up groceries for dinner. When we got to the checkout, the cashier looked at the items and said “Hungarian paprika. Hungarian peppers. Are you guys Hungarian?”
Cynthia explained that she was making Hungarian soup.
The correct response didn’t occur to me until we were in the parking lot. I should have picked up a small magazine off the rack, opened it, and said “My Hovercraft is Full of Eels”.
That was a perfect moment, wasted by not being able to think quickly enough.
