I am also proud of myself. There is a time when I would have jumped off a cliff before being involved in an actual competition, a time when a simple review would send me into the fetal postition in tears. I have been surprisingly relaxed here and ENJOYED playing around with different things. It is so nice to just enjoy writing without so much pressure.

Now I'm working on a nonfiction entry that's coming together more easily. It might not fit the prompt as well, but I believe that it's undeniably mine.
This season's been full of surprises for me, including:
+ I'm surprised that my first response to most of the prompts has been to write fiction. As late as last season, I still thought of fiction as the riskier choice.
+ I'm surprised that I've overcome the internal editor to the extent I have.
+ I'm surprised that I've been so calm about the voting. I think that's because Exhibit A is a gift. If we had gone right into Season 9, I would have been terrified of making the same mistakes I made in prior seasons and never getting another chance. I think you're a very good writer, and I too have the same trend towards conciseness and being deliberate. I enjoy not "wasting" words, if that makes sense.

I have done idol three other times and by that last season I wasn't feeling that fun. I was letting myself get to stressed out by it.
