It started over a year ago (with Idol!) -- I never though I would even be writing regularly. To get more specific, I never thought I would be writing in some of the genres I've explored. I still remember the first time I wrote a dystopian anything (yes, spellchecker, "dystopian" IS a word, dammit!), which was during the Weak Force for Idol.
I just suddenly had this idea, and I was like "there's NO WAY I can write something like this!" But I shared my "never gonna DO it" idea with a friend anyway, and she was all "you gotta write that!" So I did.
I never though I could write anything longer than a one-shot short story, and now I have eleven billionty (or so it seems) ideas for serial stories/novels. In fact, it might be easier to come up with a multi-part story than it is to come up with something completely self-contained. Now, let's see if I can finish one of my longer stories so I can list "finished a damn novel" here next year! Coming up with ideas for longer works? Easy enough. FINISHING one? Hahahaha...what is this "finishing a

Let's see... a couple years ago I never thought I'd be a mom now. Or that I'd prefer not drinking to drinking.
In other news, the weather is still weathering up here. We've got winds and snows and poor fluffed up robins taking shelter in our shrubberies. Not sure we'll be able to get out of the house unless we remove the screens/windows from the storm doors and shovel through the holes. But it's so pretty.
Anyway, Snowpocalypse is still going strong. They're saying another foot is likely before 3PM. There's still a ban on driving unless you're emergency/utility personnel. Several communities along the coast are being evacuated in light of the 10AM high tide -- the surges are over 20 feet! The next town over completely lost power last night and they're in the dark because the utility people haven't been able to plow enough to get to the downed wires.
We attempted to take Ember out last night. We kicked a path for her out to the front yard, and she kept sinking in our footsteps -- the snow, in places, came almost up to my hips! We managed to kick another path to the street and stumbled around our block...and nearly got mowed down by the plow, even though we jumped into a drift.
The cars are now buried. I have no idea if I'll be going to work later on.
It may sound dumb, but I'm continually surprised that I've managed to take a horrible situation and build a life that I love. I have two amazing partners, a cute (if drafty and somewhat run-down) apartment, and an amazing circle of friends. :)
I'm surprised that my life bears so much resemblance to this "real adult" thing. Sure, I'm not married and don't own a house, which are prerequisites to true adulthood in my area, but I have a 9-5 job with a salary, I'm less nocturnal, I have my own health insurance, I cringe at the bills, I plan out my meals before I go to the grocery store...when did I grow up?
Full blown adulthood looks way overrated. Quasi adulthood seems like a perfectly acceptable place to be! Though any flavor of adulthood is admittedly kinda terrifying in its own insidious way.
