When I started the season, I had no idea what 2020 would entail. I had no idea I’d get engaged and married, all within a few months. No idea I’d get sick and honestly, think I could be dying. I couldn’t have planned for my move to France going the way it has - because I never imagined a pandemic disrupting everything.

It feels like a lifetime ago that I signed up for Idol, posting about drinking fancy lemon water and eating French cheese while sitting in what’s now my apartment just outside of Paris.

I wrote pieces in proud about. I wrote for myself again and that was nice. I couldn’t stay in for long, but I am definitely glad I joined.

2020 has been an absolute shit-show for most people, it seems. My 2020 hasn't been too terrible, but I'm still ready for it to be over.

This season of Idol... I don't know if I can think of any particular "highlights" (although the ultra-dramatic Top 6 elimination was pretty crazy), but this whole season has felt so different from the seasons I've competed in before. It was like a breath of fresh air. And I made some friends and I got to read some really awesome work (seriously, a lot of the stuff produced this season belongs in some published volume somewhere), so, while 2020 has been mildly shitty, Idol has helped alleviate that a bit. (Also, who can focus on what else is happening in their lives when they're trying to keep up with all this writing?)

I've never partaken in idol before, but it was a great experience. I loved reading people's writing and I even made some friends frome it and it was nice too actually write again. It let me escape from 2020, which was much needed.

I think the highlight of my year has been giving birth to an adorable baby boy after battling 3 years with infertility and two miscarriages.

Season 11 wise I got to meet new people, collaborate with my bestie in an intersection, and have fun writing and being distracted from the shitshow that is 2020!

Oh man... this was one of the most important years of my life so far, I think. And Idol has had an ENORMOUS part in this.

An event that had nothing to do with the contest originally but happened more or less at its beginning and certainly influenced my introspection was unexpectedly getting diagnosed with ADHD in October 2019 and suddenly starting to understand the "why's" of so so many things that had shackled me all my life.

Suddenly I was able to look behind a lot of the insurmountable obstacles, inexpiable failures and recurring disasters in all my 55 years - and try to put them into words, daring to share it with others, which before I had only done with very selected friends on LJ, always in locked entries.

If that is not a highlight, I don't know what is ;)
