First? Not much new going on. Our deck got some boards replaced and a nice power wash, which it badly needed. It’s great when at least your deck gets a spa day! Otherwise, just happy it’s Friday!
I didn't know why you were talking about the Princess and the Frog, until I looked it up and found out that Disney World is "re-theming" [is that a real word?] Splash Mountain as the Princess and the Frog. Sorry, wrong side of the country. I couldn't get too excited about it. Perhaps I could re-theme my life, package it, and get Disney interested in it. In the real world, it's going to be hot here, so I'm going biking early.
I'm excited about the splash mountain revamp, though also happy on our Disney trip in 2018, that J got to experience the OG splash mountain experience [including us getting stranded on it for over an hour and having to leave via the backstage exit where we were forbidden to have cameras or phones out]. I probably won't be going back to Disney til 2022 or so, but there's so much to look forward to at the parks that will be completed by then
I am celebrating my one year anniversary with my expansively supportive partner. We're fleeing the suburbs to decompress in the forest for the weekend.
Thank you! I am in desperate need of a forest bath, and resting in joy. I left a toxic relationship of fourteen years. I am navigating the divorce process admist the pandemic, while living in a new state away from my family and friends. I have a lot of cleaning house to do. Being supported and cared for in a healthy relationship has given me safety and space to do that. I am grateful and grieving.
No one can see Song of the South these days for the same reason we're finally seeing Aunt Jemima disappear from the syrup labels... it's no longer acceptable to depict "happy slaves" who care so sweetly and kindly for their white massas their lives are fulfilled. I do remember seeing that movie when I was a child, because I'm old enough to have been around when it was still available on video - it was shown to me at a church function, sadly. Fortunately, I related to uncle Remus because I knew several people like him, and I was young enough to be blissfully unaware that he was a slave. I remember him... I actually hadn't even recalled until a few years ago that there were even any white people in the film. I guess they didn't make as much of an impression on me.
