Hmm Echo Chamber.... I don’t want to go with the obvious. I’ve actually switched gears for SC. I came in only wanting to write fiction, but I write fiction for a living and most of my ideas (that I kept pushing back on) were nonfiction. Now, I’m mostly focusing on nonfiction, I think. But I’m not sure where to go with this besides political. And that idea exhausts me.
I’m open to suggestions on different ways to take it. Maybe it’ll spur a memory I’d like to write about.
Have you ever been in a situation where you needed different ideas or a fresh perspective but all anyone would do is echo your own concerns back at you? The topic might lend itself to an exploration of the difference between wanting sympathy and wanting advice. People always like tying that dichotomy to gender, which I think is silly. But I do think of that dichotomy when I think of echo chamber.
Barn raising makes me think of community involvement. Everyone getting together to help out a neighbor, fix something, things like that. Pretty much the opposite of echo chambers.

Now I have to twist it to find a way to make it more personal to myself.
