The romantic in me wants to let it stop at "And they bonk."

Funny, lots of people have had that reaction to the actual Turningverse. ;-)

Those were such wonderful movies.

Aren't they? I loved both of them on so many levels. I really think they're "love it or hate it" movies, though -- I mean, not a lot of people want to watch entire long stories that consist of people talking and not much else.

i haven't seen before sunset, but i have to say i can get right behind your long description here -- though i'll tell you now that after "makes the sacrifice and moves to New York" i was genuinely expecting you to say "where she gets hit by a car on her way across the street to meet him at the top of the Empire State Building".

No, no, that's not your style at all. The seeds of her destruction would have to come from within herself.

You know, when I first saw these movies last year, I remember thinking that I thought you would really like them. Hours of nothing but dialogue -- what's not to love? *g* I'm so glad I was actually right, because I just love them.

Hey, you know, a couple of people had Before Sunrise/Before Sunset requests for yuletide that are now up for adoption as New Years Resolution challenges... just in case you wanted to flesh out those thoughts some more. ;-)

Heh. Again, I *sincerely* doubt most people would want to read the kinds of things I'd tend to write about those movies. :-) (Although, I don't know, maybe fans of those movies are totally into brutal realism.) It's almost certainly going to be one of *my* yuletide picks next year, though. Mark my words.

And yes, I did love them. So very, very much. I have a whole lot to say about them, too, that I can't quite put into words yet. (I'm still being bowled over by how many people I adore HATE them. Whyyyyyy? ;-)

haven't seen these two yet. i rilly enjoyed Slacker (and now have the DVD) so the idea of two hours of talking in a movie certainly ain't offputting. shall have to track them down at some point.

Wow. Well, I'm curious what you might think of them. Heh.

Heh, I just watched "Before Sunset" recently myself, after it came up in a conversation elsewhere. Wonderful movie, even if it did hit a nerve or six. =)

I'm glad you liked it, although I have to say I'm a little horrified that you watched it without watching "Before Sunrise" first! You *are* going to rectify this horrid injustice sometime soon, right? ;-)

Yes, definitely I am. (I did at least know the back story, does that help? =) )

Yes, it helps. But you really do need to watch the first one! Let me know what you think about watching them out of order; I'm curious what that's like.

Do you know that our own fair rivka is one of the haters? I am wounded, wounded. Although she still read this post -- now, *that's* love. ;-)
