Sword ban

Just picked this up from wolf_shadow

The proposed ban on the import, sale and manufacture of swords will have an adverse effect on legitimate practitioners, collectors and manufacturers.

Actual sword related crime is very rare and does not warrant a ban that affects the cultural activities of thousands of legitimate martial artists, re-enactors, collectors ( Read more... )

Does seem a bit crazy doesn't it?

After all there's a clear and present problem with gangs and knifes and guns, I haven't heard that many people are going about armed with swords, for a start it's a little bit harder to smuggle them into a club or hide under your coat!

I'm pretty sure that if there was to be a resurgence in sword crimes we'd see a lot more duellists and people wearing coats with back vents!

Strikes me as being harsher than the laws on guns...

There's a ban on concealable guns, that being handguns and the like, whilst larger guns are okay with licence.

If laws regarding bladed weapons where to follow suit, there would be a ban on small bladed weapons that can be hidden on your person (knife weapons) and a need for registration/licence for larger bladed weapons like swords.

Are they going to ban kitchen knives (which are far more likely to be used in violet crime)! Idiots!

Well if this piece of Bullshit goes through i promissed my self years ago that if they fuck around with re enactment like they did with pistol shooting then it's France for me.
