I'm alive. Not doing much. Working. Enjoying my job. Getting better at it. I never thought I sucked, but I'm catching harder abnormalities and learning how to do various other cases. I primarily work on bone marrow cases. But when the challenge has arisen, I've taken other cases such as high resolution blood cases (which are like bone marrows, but ( Read more... )

Bone marrow. I had a bone marrow biopsy once. You talk about a pain the @SS. I was awake when it was done, right from the sacrum. The results was good, so I guess it was worth it.

Yeah, bone marrow taps are never nice. Usually come out of the hip. I remember years ago, a trainee spilled the specimen. It was from some 80 year old woman with cancer. I felt terrible for both the tech and the old woman. She's 80, frail and has cancer. And now she has to have ANOTHER bone marrow tap. Poor woman.

But when you get those good results that you're A-OK, it makes it worth it, doesn't it? ;)

It's good to hear from you, Scott. Ten pounds at a time sounds like a good strategy for you. Keep up the good work.

Will do. I hear stories about the plateau and how hard it is to get over it. Not to mention the first 10-12 pounds is all water. :) But I'll keep at it. My goal is to do the 3 day diet maybe one more time to kinda help me get a jumpstart, some fast weight off. And then move toward portions and such. I like food too much. :) WAY too much.

Thanks for the update!! Your work is fascinating and it's important. I'm doing a lot of reading right now too, since we're in the 103-105 degree temp range and going outside is dangerous. The heat is unheard of here in the Houston area. I'm looking for theater work or a long term health care position and am moving to Minneapolis in two weeks to continue the search. I postponed the move in April, was glad that I did since my Mom took a bad fall right after Tim flew home. My application has been approved for an apartment in St Louis Park, a suburb of Minneapolis. I'm also working on fitness goals .. have lost 18 lbs since January, 18 lbs to go. You have the right approach to this, small victories.

Big HUGS!

18 pounds?! Wow, go you. If I could manage 15, I'd be happy. But losing weight is like getting tattoos. You get one, and then you want another...and another...and another. You lose 10 pounds, but then you want to lose 5 more...and 5 more...and 10 more. Luckily, I'm in a position where that would be HEALTHY for me. :)

Minneapolis or bust!! Good luck!

Me too! You're preaching to the choir! I'd like to be at 210-220. I'm 6'1". We'll see if I have enough discipline and stamina to achieve it and maintain it:)

Thanks! When I get up there, you'll have to come visit gotmoof and me. I'm sure you can have yoru choice of host!

HUGS!

You lopked good when I met you. You looked i good shape. At least your goal isn't too awful low. I know guys who are over 6 feet and weigh under 150, and they look odd. Heh heh. If you're gonna have the height, have some meat, too. :)

Glad things are going well with you as they are with me. If you've been reading journals but not posting, you've probably figured out I just spent $$$ and got a new high end PC and Adobe CS4 Master Suite and then through work, and a $100 gift card, I bought a new graphics tablet. :-)

Working on my new career goals and right now, just get to work learning the new software. Adobe stuff is not the easiest to grasp being all pro stuff and all that.

At this point, we all should be lucky to have jobs when so many are not in this economy.

You computer wizard, you. I so wish I had studied computers or had an the ambition to really get in there and work with them more. I've got the biological sciences down. Need to bone up on the computer ones. Good for you! :)

For me it's more graphics design and that general direction.

But yeah, I DO have the technical ability as well. :-)
