Nothing good lasts forever. If it's a good thing and it doesn't last forever, how can it be good in the first place? Sure, there's the argument that too much of the good stuff will make one take it for granted but how much is too much? I'm not gorging myself on the good things in life, it's just that there are too little good in life and I hoard it ( Read more... )

I am excited about your research question. You seem to be doing fine in school. That's good to hear.

I got a feeling that I'll go off tangent and 3500 words might not be enough. Oh. I think you might be interested to know my next presentation is on the intricacies of fandom LOL ;D School fluctuates as usual D;

You have such interesting essay topics, not like mine in uni.

I'm glad you're working hard! But don't work too hard!

Well I happen not to take a commercial course, so I get issues that don't earn money D= I'm not working hard enough, really. I'm just lucky, as of now that is =/

It's always good to hear from you. How are you settling? ;D

You won't believe how excited I am to hear that. I was having a difficult time trying to get academic sources for the paper and your friends would be great for an insight ;D If it isn't too much to ask or too much of a bother, it would be really helpful if I could talk to them for a question or two =D ILU!

Because good things don't last. Like an inverted U shaped curve, once it hits a peak, it's gotta make a turn for the worse.

By the same token, once a normal U hits rock bottom, it has nowhere to go but up. Life is all about give and take, no? As you said, god is very fair. Chin up. :)

But Ari, I don't want to hit rock bottom. Rock bottom is a very scary place, I've been there and the thought alone is enough to scare the fuck out of me. LOL. Really. =\

Like I said yesterday, the only thing in North America really is Disney. It is all about happy endings and fairy princesses and their prince who comes to the rescue no matter what. There is nothing real life situations, no emotions other than love and just the slightest hint of angst. It's where you know that, in the end, everyone will be happy. People want something where the characters feel. They want to feel the pain along with them, as well as the joy and happiness. They want to see things that, while not realistic, don't include odd coloured animals floating around talking to the main characters ( ... )

I love talking to you about such topics, you are never stingy with words and RL experience which makes it easier to understand =D How's the kid and the house? Getting better?

Anyhow about Canada, that's interesting. I never thought it would differ much from the States in terms of local media products. Also, I wonder if Disney and J-anime target different demographics? And if their brand of angst or reality is subtle as compared the J-animes? Perhaps its more local?

Now that I seriously think about it, this topic is kinda tough

First, I must say that I am so happy that you're using a kawaii_not icon. You have no idea how much it made me smile ( ... )

At least you make sense when you ramble, I go off tangent faster than you can say WOAH =D It's good to hear that everything's getting on track now. Thank God

Visually appealing. Hm. Don't you guys like the smoothness and the richness of Disney animation? I mean compared to Disney, J-anime doesn't really match up in terms of realism. Strangely, the serious fans in Japan seem to be of an older range, people with disposable income, well I guess Disney targets the parents =\ Sexuality and morals can be taught through anime?
