[For the linkphobic]Now that the Veronica Mars Kickstarter has been such a fund-raising success (they've currently raised more than $3 million), naturally the conversation has turned to what gone-but-not-forgotten show will be next. Deadwood? Unlikely.Terriers? Shawn Ryan did tweet about it. Pushing Daisies? Looks like a yes, actually. "I did get an

I think all the discussion about it is a bit premature.
He'd have to find a way to work out a deal like Rob Thomas did with the WB, and I imagine whoever has the rights to Pushing Daisies will want to see how the Veronica Mars movie will pan out first.
Production company(s) The Jinks/Cohen Company Living Dead Guy Productions Warner Bros. Television
I didn't realize that WB was a producer, but yeah, they'd probably want to see how Veronica Mars pans out a bit before jumping onto a Pushing Daisies project.
I didn't know that, either! (But to be honest, I have pretty much zero knowledge about how production companies, work, so...)
That's actually a bit encouraging! It seems like they'd be more likely to do it again if Veronica Mars can at least break even with the amount the production company will be spending on distribution and advertising. They might see earning the goodwill of fans as enough of a reason to bother, even if they don't turn a profit.
I'm sure they are not against the potential of making money, tbh. Of course, I have no clue what the WB deal entails and how much $ they are shelling out. I thought a VM movie had been in the works for aaaaages, so that's a difference.
Kristen Bell seems to be the only cast member that has any earning power (I've never watched VM, so I'm sort of fuzzy on who was in the cast). I know Jason Doehring seemed to fall off the face of the Earth after Moonlight ended, so if he's involved, he probably could be gotten for cheap.
Pushing Daisies would probably be more expensive from the cast side of things (unless they take a pay cut or something), plus the production costs would be higher than VM with sets and the like, so I dunno. It's probably a bit more of a risk for WB. But Lee Pace is potentially gonna blow up like the dude in my icon has with the next few Hobbit movies, so that might help, I dunno. I'm sure the WB will be looking at the upcoming movies that Hobbit cast members have starring roles in and what kind of $ they earn.
I was about to say I thought Fuller was pretty busy with Hannibal at the moment (talk about the polar opposite of Pushing Daisies, LOL), but if he's emailing Thomas....
Pushing Daisies will be more expensive to make - if VM is a ~~commercial~~ success, we might be able to cross our fingers.
Especially with how much fans have been able to sway studios recently ("Arrested Development" revival on Netflix, "Community" fans demanding a fourth season, etc). There seems to be a shift in mass media lately - studios are recognizing the power of "amateurs" on the internet in making their own entertainment and telling their own stories. Either through fanfiction, or things like The Lizzie Bennet Diaries becoming successful.
So time will tell, but it would be in our interest to increase fan-made works, create twitter campaigns, and encourage others to watch Pushing Daisies.
