Summary: Lian's escaped, yet again. After a text message ended up in the wrong person's phone, Kyuhyun finds himself with unexpected assistance locating his wayward puppy.
It was just going to be one of those years, Kyuhyun could tell already.
Not even a month after the last time Lian got out of the apartment, she managed to escape again. This time, Kyuhyun hadn’t even been in the apartment when it happened. He’d been helping a neighbor move in after their couch had gotten stuck in the stairwell, and one of the movers had reported seeing his beagle puppy bolting out of the apartment door. Well, that was what he got for being nice.
Truthfully, if this had been any other era he wouldn’t even be worried. He’d owned dogs since well before it was deemed sociably unacceptable to let them wander around the streets, and before the modern menace known as cars. Kyuhyun wasn’t used to having to worry about where his dogs were all the time; they tended to hang around his house anyways, as they’d been trained. But Lian was still a puppy; even if she tried to find her way back, she would probably be lost for a while. And in a world with bikes, motorcycles and other dangers, he would rather spend a few hours looking for her than risk her getting hit.
What he hadn’t expected though, was to have help. He’d fired off a message to Zhou Xun hoping maybe the mover had been mistaken and the vampire had his puppy (again), but the message had never reached it’s intended target. Instead, Nicole had answered. Nicole who he hadn’t heard from since the run-in at the university, and who he was pretty sure was still scared of him somewhat.
But she’d offered to help him, and it was maybe out of sheer surprise that he agreed. And that was how he ended up standing outside the coffeehouse a few blocks away from his house, Lian’s leash and cookies in his pockets and two coffees in hand.
