The Oregon State Bar Pro Bono Committee considers part of its mandate to increase law student participation in pro bono activities. Last year, our big idea for how to do this was to create a bulletin board website that would allow students to search and look up lawyers who sought assistance with pro bono projects. After (seemingly endless) ( Read more... )

I am probably not the ideal candidate, but hey, I love doing research. I also love learning the new things and am more than comfortable with tedium, which if I recall correctly, there is a lot of in legal paperwork and research. It isn't like I don't have all the time in the world, as well.

If you get desperate, do let me know. ;)

You've done so much volunteer work for me already =} Do you need legal research experience?

I have? I'm not sure that helping you clean your kitchen is really volunteer work. You are far from the first person to whom I have lent a hand in moving. I don't know that I need legal research experience, per se, but I am always in search of something to put on a resume. And hey, knowledge is never a bad thing to have, it could come in handy... somehow. >_>

I am kind of surprised you haven't had takers; I'd think that law students would be eager to get some real-world experience, even if it is just doing backstage work. Silly creatures.

If the site were well-publicized or working reliably, I probably would get some responses, but I'm not, so.

I'm getting desperate pretty rapidly here. If you want to do it, we'd be grateful to have you. We'd need some kind of commitment, though. Not a lot - 5 hours a week or something - but it would have to be reliable, if we're to depend on you. I don't wish to presume your schedule is totally malleable, so let me know ...?

Many thanks, as ever.

Facebook might be great but there are old-school effective measures too--have you gotten any law school profs to mention it to their classes? Surely the schools each have career services websites--can they mention your website on their front page, or near where they list actual job opportunities? I'm sure you've thought about some of these things but figured I'd give the extra push. Especially as someone who isn't on Facebook and is sometimes frustrated by those who don't advertise elsewhere.

We might go to a school pro bono push... that's an idea. I'll suggest it.

I could have desperately used pro bono services last year but now it's too late to press charges.

I'm afraid I've got as much pro bono work on my docket right now as I can possibly afford, and then some. And what you needed, if I recall correctly, isn't in my area of expertise. I can refer people, of course.

not sure what kind of offer I'm giving.. but it was there before this post! krazyfelioness January 15 2011, 11:27:45 UTC
Not sure to what extent I'd be of help, but have been desperately wanting to "do" something now that I can at least sit (oi had to get that out.. it was a loooong time under the weather too much).

Anyhoo... still atop steps, but things are so much better and, well, claustrophobic, so if you ever want any help (if I'm able to function and do it lol) sarcasm is a must at the moment. :).. I'd love to be in a different environment and be of help.

anyhoo... keep that in mind if you'd like some extra free help while I"m still in the box not too far away. :)
