Historic cemeteries in and around Boston are generally very well kept, for reasons which are probably obvious: Boston and its environs have the money to maintain their historic sites, and given Boston's popularity as a tourist destination, it makes sense that the area would keep up all their points of historical interest, including cemeteries. If the weather's nice, Forest Hills and/or Mount Auburn cemeteries are wonderful for walks - Forest Hills also has ongoing art exhibitions all over, and a big pond in the middle which is gorgeous to picnic by. If you do go to Forest Hills, aim to be near the bell tower at around five after the hour, and you'll hear the hymn it plays, ringing out down the hill and over the acres - the music's like a time machine for me.

I'm a museum nerd, so the MFA is an automatic, and I'd also suggest the ICA. A more atypical but wildly seductive option is the Gardner Museum. I love the Gardner particularly. If you wind up in the MFA/Gardner neighborhood, you can also go to little hole-in-the-wall El Pelon for amazing Mexican food.

Those are my favorite things to do, off the top of my head.
