wtf is a livejournal cut?

when you use rich text one of those little squares at the top...if you hover over it it says "use lj-cut" and so you click on it. yknow what it is..when someone has a bunch of stuff so they have one of those "read more" things or its a quote or some lyrics you click on...that is my friend mr lj-cut!
