Not that any of you doubt this, but...

So, I've been reading Kull: Exile of Atlantis after having finished all the Del Rey releases of Conan. I was reading Swords of the Purple Kingdom and lunch, and it's got a great example of Howard's writing of battle. I love it, it really feels so vivid. Extra geek points if you pull out some miniatures and put them on a grid as a visual aid while you're reading.

you are a geek. epic +25 to all geekery, but we love you. I am a geek too as I understood everyword you said above. I have some reprints of Howard's Conan stories. I need to finish reading them. love me some pulp barbarian action.

p.s. Great Cleave is also great for the ladies. oh yeahhhhhh!

I'd suggest you acquire (buy or borrow) the Del Rey releases The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian, The Conquering Sword of Conand and The Blood Crown of Conan. They reprint all of the REH's Conan stories in release order and in their original, unedited form. A lot of other releases have been edited and reworked, most infamously by L. Sprague deCamp and Lin Carter. While they did a lot to further the popularity and pervasiveness of Conan, they did some rewriting and fleshing out of incomplete scripts. I really appreciate the ability to read a writer's own writing, unfettered by editing.
