Living in Amsterdam sounds wonderful. If you can, do some research a/b the institute - email some students there - i saw couple of russian names on their website.

What I'm trying to say is that Amsterdam is a lot cooler than Pittsburgh :)

Though I think the real difference (and what's freaking me out) is that you actually applied to Einstein and Brandeis, whereas I really chickened out about all the good programs in the US, because of how good you have to be to get in, and only applied last minute.
You actually looked into the choice of "the familiar" before you left to Pittsburg, I didn't.
