The thing I most definitely loved about this episode was the Minotaur. Not just the creature mind you, but the way they wove the myth into the episode. Can an adaptation of something be both unfaithful and faithful at the same time? Because I think TGC might have managed it.
What really surprised me though, was that I started getting emotional. Again. Rita speaking to the Doctor over the phone, the Doctor breaking Amy's faith in him - dear God, just the Doctor full stop. I even felt sorry for the Minotaur at the end. The poor creature. By the way, I'm really liking how many of the monsters/era in this era have not been straight-up bad guys.
And then the ending. I was NOT expecting that. Just... GAH. I don't know who to hug right now. It reminded a bit me of when the companions left in Classic Who, now that I think about. Probably the most normal leaving of companions since... Martha? Just what does count as a normal exit for a companion these days ( ... )
