Well, let's see, here's what's in the stereo at home right now:
  1. The Shins, "Chutes Too Narrow"---Just picked this one up, and have not heard a whole lot of it, but what I've heard I really, really like.
  2. Guided By Voices, "Isolation Drills"---Again, have not heard enough of this to reach any definitive conclusions, but I really like Rob Pollard, ( Read more... )

It's funny... I was just thinking the minute before I read this that I should get that Yo La Tengo cd sometime. I've never heard of the Meat Puppets, but they sound like they would be interesting from the way you describe them.

That is funny! It is really a great album.

As for the Meat Puppets, their early stuff on SST was more or less straightforward So-Cal '80s punk---good, if that's what you want---but the later stuff is more what I was talking about.

No. And, when I say I "picked this one up," I meant at the library---I didn't buy it. Is the first one better?

the only yo la tengo i got and loved. sometimes i miss it, but will wait yet to reacquire it. rather like heaven or las vegas. hi. you're the one, eh? i joined your "community" so now i guess we are one.

It's a great album. Had I ever owned it, and then lost it, I'd miss it too.
