Tom Waits!

Jul 04, 2008 21:58

I have not updated in a while.  There is no reason for not having done so, other than another of those periods of being distracted from livejournal by other things, mostly Facebook, which is addictive.

In June, I went up north to visit family, but mostly ended up sitting around at my sister Christine's house, doing nothing, for many days, and ( Read more... )

i missed this post somehow. sorry to hear about the breakup. it was wonderful of your sister and your parents to make sure you got to see tom waits, though. i agree about living our appreciation, something i too often fail to do.

You missed it, most likely, because I wrote it, and then made it private until I had a chance to edit it. So, it was not available to view until last night.

I think we all fail to do it at least some of the time. Something for which I need to pray and ask the Lord for is perseverance, patience, and discipline, in order to live in the manner I know to be correct and yet still fail to achieve.

I have resisted the Facebook invitations, I only have so much computer time in me. Glad you enjoyed the Waits concert, especially bearing the recent split. I could not imagine a finer experience.

Yes, I strongly recommend you continue your campaign of resistance. Facebook is a black hole which will suck you in and not release you. Granted, it is better than Myspace, which is so noxiously juvenile and low-brow I felt I needed to wash my hands after every visit. Still, you are right to resist it all. I actually commend you for it.

Thank you for your good wishes, as well.

"...the band was just crackerjack!"

Is that an Indiana saying or something? Or from some other decade? :)

I like it.

Yeah, that's old slang... probably from the '20s. That is one of my many sort of pointless fascinations. ;)

hey - i surmised what had happened with lindsay from facebook and the looking for someone to use a ticket. it's too bad that you couldn't just date casually and that different priorities in life had to be such a big thing. it sounds as though you are okay, which is good, also seeing things evenly, which is important.

and wow, i really would have loved to have taken that trip and seen that concert with you, and believe me, i did consider it, but it was not feasible. it sounded like a grand adventure. your family really was generous there! i'm glad you got there and enjoyed it.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why she chose the course of action she did, why she felt she had to make such a big deal out of something which is, to my mind, so trivial. But, there is nothing I can say to her now. We did not grow all that close, still being so far removed from one another, so it did not hurt as much as it might have. Still, I do find it perplexing. Though, as I have said to others, it obviously would not have worked out between us.

I actually thought about you as someone who might be interested in using the other ticket. But, it would have been quite an undertaking. But, the other ticket being wasted is very upsetting to me.
