He wasn't afraid to get mad and call bullshit, and that's what made him great (as well as his understanding of the truth that grotesque art can convey).
Quite so! His work is, for the most part, violent and horrifying, but he was trying to show the sickness that lay below the surface of Weimar. The sickness that very soon erupted into the true horror that was Nazism.
