I'm working on another one right now, actually, where Eric does tell him. Because this started out in this style with something happening between them once they got back to Ohio, and then I decided that I couldn't do it justice in the no-dialogue format (which I unabashedly love. This is not the first fic I've written in this style- if you like Dean/Castiel from Supernatural, go read this one), and that unrequited/unfulfilled worked better for what I was doing here anyway. So I'm writing another one. Only I have to write a John/Sherlock for humanyouth's birthday first.

Also I'm really glad you like it, because it was actually for you! And yes, Zoe. If not for that one line at the Halloween party, I would have sworn that Zoe and Eric stayed friends while he wasn't speaking to the others. I'm not entirely sure they didn't- he said it had been a long time but I feel like it might not have been the whole three years. OH DEAR GOD IS THAT ANOTHER PLOTBUNNY? YES I THINK IT IS.

There's a certain...fondness when Eric greets her in the party that isn't there when he greets Windows or Hutch.

Exactly! Like a best friend fondness. Not just the role she played in getting Eric ok after Linus dies, but after Linus stops speaking to him after high school. That specifically is what's in my head and what's next after my John/Sherlock and after the Linus/Eric romance fluff.

I watched it again the other day and fell in love with Eric all over again. Sam Huntington has such an expressive face. And I love Linus almost as much. Chris Marquette has all these little character details that just crack me up.
