So the wind is outrageous right now, howling at the house as promised, today and into Monday.  The electricity has gone out a few times, and so I have spent some time nightwatching, as I often do anyway.  I was watching out back, down the hill to the house at the bottom.  They have some outbuildings, and, to the side of one, a light was shining out ( Read more... )

We got about 10-12 inches of snow since Sunday noon... While Montréal got rain!

The car looked like an igloo.

Today? Windblown snow...

At the moment, my region received something like 340cm of snow this winter.
And it's not over yet!

This has been the weirdest winter! We've had mild winters and harsh winters and everything in between, but never this up and down and up and down and up and down... temperature swings! Now a bomb cyclone!

We've had snow this winter, about 7-8 inches last week, but nothing like you. I hope your back is better.

Lower back is ok (well, as ok as it can be,I guess).

Upper back still hurts. osteoarthritis, I'm told. Nothing much to do about it.

:-/

We've had up and down to, with rain and sleet and snow and everything in between.
I wish Mother Nature would make up her mind!

Oh, yes, my mom suffers from that. I hope you're able to take it easy.

Mother Nature is sending more cold down here, which I'm more than fine with, but I hope she takes it easy on you with the snow!

Did you discover what hit the house? I must say it does all sound like the opening to a mystery story. I'm glad the electricity remained so you could watch the Oscars.

:-) Thanks! It's been a wild few days with the wind. I mean, we've had really strong winds plenty in this area, but usually associated with a storm of some sort, not just... wind. Apparently, it's a bomb cyclone. I've been enjoying it, actually, because I love wild weather, but it's supposed to move past us sometime today. Ah, well...

I did not discover what hit the house, but probably it was just a branch. There's a lot of debris from trees right now.

Gosh, it sounds it. Oh, how interesting. I hadn't come across the term before. I'm not surprised to hear you've been rather enjoying it. I too rather like wild weather, as long as I get to keep my 'home comforts' of heating & lighting *g* Sorry to hear it's going to leave you.

Ah, that's quite probable. These noises can really be so intensely loud at times. The most innocuous thing can have you jumping and searching the whole house. We get a lot of birds fly into our sitting room window and they really make a tremendous sound and really make you jump.

We sadly seem to have skipped winter (apart from a couple of days) and spring as at the moment it is as warm as the beginning of summer tends to be :-(

I've only heard the term "bomb cyclone" the last couple winters. It seems Mother Nature always has a few new tricks up her sleeves! Well, we have a couple days of warmer, than we're to be getting some Arctic air again. This is one crazy winter!

Oh, they do make a lot of noise when they do that! I always worry if they're okay, it makes such a loud bang. :-/

Ah, I'm sorry about your missing winter, but I hope summer will be a mild one for you. I'm not looking forward to ours. It seems like winter just started! :-S
