This past Sunday, I saw a robin.  A robin redbreast!  In January.  Mid-January!  That?  Is incredibly wrong ( Read more... )

I love robins and we are lucky insofar as we get them all the way through winter (and beyond) no matter how cold or warm winter is.

We have one in particular who visits our bird feeding area every day and have seen territory fights between the one who regards our garden as 'his' and ones who want to sneak in.

You must get far colder weather than we do if having a robin in January is strange.

I'm sure he'll be okay, ditto the peahen.

*Good vibes*

Yes, while we do have birds here in the winter, most of them, including the robins, migrate south for the winter. Seeing a robin is considered one of the first harbingers of spring here, so seeing one last weekend was way out of the norm!

I hope they will be fine. The snow started last evening, and I woke up this morning to at least a foot out there with it still coming down. It's supposed to continue till tonight, at least, so we're at least getting a solid dose of winter this weekend. It really is so beautiful, watching it.

I'm glad to hear you've had a bit of winter, but boo to warmer temps. I hope you get a solid dose soon, too.

You really are a lot colder than us then.

I do hope they are; I'm sure they will be. What's it like now? Has it stopped? I bet it was lovely to see.

Thank you. Indeed; back to being really mild again. I do hope we will get a bit more winter soon - if only in temperature. Thank you.

I'm sorry for the late reply! The last couple weeks have been difficult for a variety of reasons. I'm hoping this next week will be back to normal.

The snowstorm was, indeed, lovely. It snowed straight through, from Friday evening to Saturday evening, laying down almost three feet of snow. That's a record here, for a 24-hour period. It was a killer to shovel, but well worth it for me. :-) It was a once in a lifetime storm, and I do love wild weather and snow. I took some pics, and if I can ever figure out how to get them from my phone to my computer, I'll post some of the good ones.

The weather keeps seesawing between cold and warm, so a good bit of the snow has melted now. What a waste of a good snowstorm! Ah, well, we might get some snow again this coming Monday/Tuesday, but nothing like Winter Storm Jonas! I hope you've had some winter, too!
