Would you believe there was snow in Pennsylvania this past weekend?  There was!  Measurable inches of the goodly white stuff!  Only... just not here, where I live, in Pennsylvania.  Alas.  At least, we have had markedly cooler temps this week, here, where I live, in Pennsylvania.  It's felt like Fall these past several days, and I've loved it.  It' ( Read more... )

I'm sorry you didn't get any snow, but glad to hear your temperatures have been lower - even though they'll be high again next week :-(

I loathe the double standards in fanfic - loathe it!

I hate it when it's perfectly okay for a het author to say 'suitable for everyone' and it includes het, but it wouldn't be okay for a slash author to say 'suitable for everyone' even if the only mention is as simple as 'they were lovers' or a peck on the cheek!

I was out for a few hours Saturday night, and it darn well felt like Winter. 'Twas delightful!

Exactly! And, of course, the implication is always that Het is "normal" while Slash is not. It's sad, really sad, we're still not beyond that.

Oh, how lovely!

I know *sighs*

If mentioning a het couple of 'suitable for all' then mentioning a slash couple is too, in my book.

I understand fully that some people don't want to read slash and I respect that, so why can some people not respect that I don't want to read my slash characters with women? Or at least I want to make the decision.

There are three genres: slash, het and gen *Nods and climbs off soap- box*

It was pretty great, even though I think I'm now catching a cold. ::g::

Agreed, on all counts. Even if they think het is "normal" and slash is not, can't they at least exhibit common courtesy to their fellow fen, especially in something that is so very easy to do? I've really become distrustful of Gen fic, in some quarters, and as I don't have a large appetite for it anyway, I mostly just stay away completely.
